The Port Townsend School of Woodworking The Port Townsend School of Woodworking offers year-round weekend, one-week, two-week and 12-week courses on woodworking, cabinetmaking, furniture making, traditional woodcrafts and historic preservation. Featuring faculty from Port Townsend's vibrant professional working community as well as nationally-known experts and specialists, the School draws students nationally and internationally.
The School is located at Fort Worden State Park in Port Townsend, on the shores of Washington State's beautiful Olympic Peninsula - about 2 hours from downtown Seattle by ferry and road. FSC, Forest Stewardship Council. The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an independent, non-profit, non-governmental organization. It was founded in 1993 by a diverse group of representatives from environmental and conservation groups, the timber industry, the forestry profession, indigenous peoples' organizations, community forestry groups and forest product certification organizations from 25 countries.
The Furniture Society is a tax-exempt, nonprofit organization founded in 1996, whose mission is: To advance the art of furniture making by inspiring creativity, promoting excellence, and fostering an understanding of this art and its place in society. The Furniture Society strives bring those involved in the field of studio furniture together.
Rainforest Alliance. The Rainforest Alliance is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to the conservation of tropical forests for the benefit of the global community.

SmartWood. Initiated in 1989, SmartWood was the first forest management certification program of its kind, operating in all forest types on a worldwide basis. SmartWood is a program of the Rainforest Alliance, an international nonprofit environmental group based in New York City. The SmartWood Program reduces the negative impacts of commercial forestry by awarding its seal of approval to responsible forest managers.
